Got questions? We’ve got answers! We have compiled the most frequently asked questions here and provided answers to them. They are categorized to help you easily navigate to the answer. If you need further assistance, please reach out to us at info@ifta-fitness.com!
In this section, find out about everything surrounding the certification process including how to register and what happens when you are finished. You will also find questions about live vs. in-person and how to complete the certification materials!
We believe that the in-person practical piece is critical. The ability to test new skills in a safe, collaborative environment with real-time feedback provides immediate advancement.
We also believe in the power to ask questions and receive insightful answers. If you cannot attend an in-person practical session, however, we are also proud to offer our best alternative in a video test review and downloadable exercise videos to help you practice and perfect your chosen modality.
Additionally, we highly recommend finding a local mentor to help you practice once you finish your certification!
The online portion of each certification is self-paced. You have 60 days to complete all parts of the certification including the final exam.
The countdown starts from the day of purchase.
If choosing the in-person practical portion, it is helpful to have completed the online portal and workbook ahead of the training so that you can arrive equipped with any questions you might have. It is not required, however, and you may complete the online portal after the practical training.
A score of 75% or greater on the exam is necessary to pass. If you do not pass, you may purchase up to two retakes. After two failing retake attempts, you must retake the entire course to become certified.
All Certification Trainings expire in 60 days. Should you need more than 60 days to complete your certification, you will be assessed a $75 reinstatement fee.
We recognize that the in-person portion of the training is not always feasible. If you would like to attend an in-person practical, please contact us and we will work with you to connect to a facility in your area.
If you are affiliated with a facility and believe there would be interest, please inquire with your facility to fill out the Host an Event form. We would love to come to you!
If there is not enough interest, we will happily work with you to create the best online experience possible.
It takes about 10 business days to process certifications. All certificates are sent digitally through email.
We ask that you reach out to our office only if you have waited 10 business days and you have not received your results.
If you have opted-in for the “Rush My Certificate” service at the time of enrollment, you will receive your digital certificate in 2 business days.
Confirmation emails for portal completion, study guide completion, and test completion are not sent (there are just too many!)
Yes! We have an option called the ISR (IFTA Safety Requirement). This is a short article describing the steps of Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation.
It does not include the hands-on practical portion of CPR, so we encourage practice after reading through the steps.
Your particular facility may not accept the ISR as a completed CPR certification, but it does fulfil our requirements for releasing your certificate.
We only require a current CPR certification for Primary Group Fitness and Personal Training certifications.
We highly encourage and recommend CPR for any fitness professional, though!
In this section, find out how to navigate your online course portal including where to find it and how long it might take to complete the material. You will also find what to do if your course disappears and how to show 100% completion!
Download the instructions that came to you immediately with your receipt. It will tell you all the information that you need to know!
You can find the same set of instructions inside your online account under “View Courses.” You must start the course you have purchased immediately where detailed instructions are given at every stage.
No! Please open your portal immediately! There is quite a bit of material for you to make your way through before your practical session.
The practical session is where you put everything you learned online together!
The study guide naturally follows the order of the textbook or manual.
You will want to fill out as much of the study guide as you can since most of the exam material comes from this.
You have 60 days from the date of purchase to complete everything including the exam.
You probably missed the 60 deadline and it has expired.
You can pay the reinstatement fee from your account and we can reset it for you.
The material that you have already completed will not be lost.
If you completed your exam and everything else in your online portal, it just means that you did not check something off as completed.
For example, if you choose the online videos for your practical portion, you still must check off the live, in-person section of the practical to show that you read and understood the materials.
This will cause your course to be completed at 100%!
Curious about how to renew your certification? You will find answers here to questions about our renewal process and how to navigate through it. Learn about the three-step renewal process and our reminder system to keep your certification current.
Navigate to the “Renewal Process” page under the “Fitness Certifications” menu navigation at the top of the website.
There is an explainer video you can watch, as well as some text that you can read to understand the process.
It has always been (and still is) a three-step process:
Navigate to the “Renewal Process” page under the “Fitness Certifications” menu navigation at the top of the website.
Scroll down a little bit and the form is right there for you to fill out online. We tried to make it easy!
Your renewal date is listed on your certificate.
If you can’t find your certificate (we email those too), you can shoot an email to renewals@ifta-fitness.com and we can help you out.
We have gone completely digital!
To save a tree or two, we will send you an email notification several times before you expire. Be sure to stay subscribed to our emails!
We always encourage you to spread your CECs over one or two years depending on the expiration of your certification.
That way, the cost is spread over time instead of all at once.
It is never too early to start earning CECs once you renew your certification!
No. All CECs must be earned within the year or two years of your renewal period, but we applaud your commitment to excellence in learning!
Renewals are always a three-step process (earn CECs, pay fee, fill out form).
The form is located online and you can fill it out and submit it on the website.
It takes 10 BUSINESS DAYS to process certificates. We encourage you to reach out only after the 10 business-day cycle if you still have not received your certificate.
This section explains how to access and manage your account. From your account dashboard, you can view your recent orders, manage your shipping and billing addresses, and edit your password and account details. You can also view any Upcoming Events scheduled several months ahead.
The accounts on the old website did not transfer to the new site for security reasons.
We don’t want just anyone to have access to the back end of our site, so you must make a purchase on the new website to create an account.
Your purchase can be anything: renewal fee, CECs, swag, a new certification – literally anything!
Once you complete the purchase, you will be prompted to change your password to create a new account.
You can then track everything directly from Your Account’s Dashboard!
Check your account under the “Downloads” button.
Most likely, you have exceeded the 60-day time limit to complete all course materials and your course has expired.
