Yoga All Ways

Dive into a comprehensive yoga practice with instructor Elizabeth Evans Peterson that strongly emphasizes alignment, mindful engagement, and the safe use of props. This session focuses on connecting movement with “Yoga breath” and encourages participants to continually check in with their bodies throughout the class. The warm-up focuses on six essential movements to establish a strong foundation. Key standing poses and transitions include the detailed progression from Crescent Warrior to Warrior 3. Alignment is a core theme, with specific cues provided for a full seated straddle and standing poses, ensuring the knee is properly aligned. Elizabeth also clarifies the meaning of “hands to heart center” and emphasizes the importance of avoiding compression in vulnerable areas. The class integrates props such as blocks, a towel, a yoga strap, and a wedge, detailing their main role and providing critical safety instructions (e.g., being careful when using a yoga strap in the hamstring stretch and awareness when using blocks). The practice includes foundational poses like the Down Dog and addresses proper hip positioning during the 5 Point Star. Throughout all these movements and flows, you will find constant reminders of breath control and doing what feels best for you, ensuring you are in tune with your body through the mind-body connection.
